We love Taru’s work for it’s back-to-basics approach. It’s hard to find children’s photographers in this town who aren’t doing cheesy pregnancy poses or dolling the kids up uncomfortable party clothes. Taru, however, photographs kids doing things they love, in their natural habitats (so to speak), so you don’t get any of the forced artificiality of posed ‘glamour-shots’. We like that these images are all natural and candid. The kids look better, and the photos won’t horrify them when you pull out an album 20 years from now. We don’t like the color editing on some of Taru’s work, but she’ll undoubtedly skip that step if you don’t like it, either.
