In The Buzz Cut, we give our take on all of the intellectual and Internet-famous, celebrity and bizarre, buzzy and overlooked family and parenting news we gossiped about over lunch all week.

Education. The adorable Jolie-Pitt crew are homeschooled and living with Angelina Jolie while Jolie and ex Brad Pitt iron out post-divorce family arrangements. Elsewhere, Sesame Workshop is set to receive the largest-ever MacArthur Foundation grant to educate refugee children in the Middle East and rethink early childhood education in general. Finally, here’s a peak into all of the problems within India’s higher ed scene.

Parenting. Mindy Kaling is now a mom — congrats, lady! — and it’s nobody’s business who the dad is. The late Hugh Hefner’s family trust prohibits drug and alcohol abuse by his heirs, an interesting incentive toward clean living for his surviving family. Elsewhere, one writer crafts an ode to parents who let you do you. And finally, an interesting peak into how other families handle screen time in this poll of more than 500 parents.

Human rights. Or complete lack thereof — a day in the life of a Rohingya family is horrific.

Elder care. Caring for aging parents and other elderly family members is a big barrier to women’s participation in the workforce. But technology is revolutionizing how we do it, with the potential to free up women and give better care to the elderly.

Weddings. Nigeria has a wedding industry that rivals India’s. (It sounds intense…ly familiar.) Maybe it will be inspiration for Sandra Bullock, who is reportedly planning a wedding.

Marriage. PC is happy for besties Megan Markle and Anushka Sharma, but has no marital plans for herself any time soon. Enjoy your single years, single lady! And, in case you were wondering why the queen of romance, Jane Austen, never married, here’s an explanation. Finally, here’s #relationshipgoals inspiration from a bunch of celebrities celebrating their relationship longevity: Anna Kournikova and Enrique Inglesias, who, yes, are still together after 15 years (and just had twins!); for Hugh Jackman and his wife, who have been together for 21 years; and for Will Smith, who is refreshingly honest on how difficult it is to stay happily married for 20 years — even when it’s to such a boss lady as Jada Pinkett-Smith. Finally, a fascinating look at the rise of long-distance marriages, which, for economic reasons, are becoming more and more common.

Fashion. Kanye West is bringing ‘dad style’ to high fashion. He might be the only one who can.
